We are The Bitten Slate® Awards for bit parts in film, and we are taking bit parts to the big time.

Because sometimes it’s the bit actor that steals the show. 

Because sometimes it's the bit part that is written, directed, and cast the best.

Because bit parts should be great and plentiful, since they elevate the whole, their importance not bitty in the least.

Because the delight we derive from great bit parts is enormous.

Because, in sum, great bit parts deserve celebration, and a sizable reward.

And although there are plenty of awards out there (heck, there's even one appropriately jocularly named for awfulness in film), there are none for great bit roles in film — for the screenwriters that create them, the casting agents that people them, the directors that coax them, and the actors that embody them — and that's a shame, for when a bit part is brilliantly written, brilliantly cast, brilliantly directed, and brilliantly acted, the result is of scene-chomping proportions.

So we hereby declare that one such award now exists, and that it is named (also appropriately, see FAQs for why):
